Could LinkedIn’s Publishing Platform become little more than spam?

linkedin publishing platform
I used to enjoy seeing the little flag on the top of LinkedIn indicate some form of engagement.
Much like a number on the little globe on Facebook, a number on the LinkedIn flag indicated someone liked or commented on something I shared in my status update or mentioned me in something they shared or commented on.
I’d hit that flag on my LinkedIn iPad app and engage the folks who had engaged me. As I’ve blogged before I’d comment back, drop folks a note, and offer to get together.

LinkedIn Corp. (LNKD) must face a lawsuit claiming the company violated customers’ privacy rights for marketing purposes by accessing their external e-mail accounts and downloading their contacts’ addresses.
The decision by U.S. District Judge Lucy H. Koh in San Jose, California, means LinkedIn members who sued can continue to pursue damages for revenue the company made using their e-mail address books as they try to expand the case to include thousands of other customers. Yesterday’s ruling follows Koh’s earlier decisions in a Google Inc. (GOOGL) privacy case involving e-mail users that were sharply critical of the search engine company’s policies.

How To Grow Your Business With LinkedIn

LinkedIn

3 Ways To Grow Your Business With LinkedIn
Let me ask you a question: Do you ever feel like everyone in your industry is doing the same thing? Everyone’s newsletters look the same. Everyone’s websites are starting to look the same. Same. Same. Same.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone;
I’ve faced this issue many times throughout my business journey. And what I’ve come to learn is that marketing is 10% what you say and 90% how you say it. Now if you’re marketing your company using the same methods as everyone else in your industry not only is it going to be hard to stand out but chances are your business will never be innovative enough to stay ahead of the pack.
And in my opinion there is no marketing tool more powerful in today’s business world than LinkedIn if your business is primarily B2B. With over 300 million users and 49% of those being key decision makers, LinkedIn has ultimately become the most precious marketing resource of the 21st century.

Ready to Be a LinkedIn Influencer Yet?

Don't lie: if you're a social media marketer, at some point in the last couple of months you went to Google and typed in, "apply to be a LinkedIn influencer" - or something of the sort. You know you have.
A platform that's been graced so far only with people with the pedigree of Sir Richard Branson, Ariana Huffington and Conan O'Brien, we mortals have been subjected to the torture of merely watching the massive reach, viewership and engagement that the LinkedIn influencer platform has been able to generate.
But that's just been blown open.
