Iran’s foreign minister and lead negotiator in nuclear talks said this week that the United States must bow to Iran’s “inalienable nuclear rights” and hinted that Western countries are being fooled about the extent of concessions being made by Tehran in talks, according to regional media reports.

Despite Western media reports and indications from the Obama administration that Iran may be moderating its hardline position, there has been “no change in Iran’s rigid stance on its inalienable nuclear rights,” according to comments made Tuesday by Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and reported in Iran’s state-controlled-media.

“Some [western] countries have fallen prey to miscalculations [about Iran’s position] due to wrong analyses,” Zarif was quoted as saying on the heels of another round of talks with the United States and other Western countries ahead of the Nov. 24 deadline.

'My Reyhaneh Was Hanged’: Mother of Executed Iranian Woman Speaks Out

Despite an international campaign calling for her life to be spared, Reyhaneh Jabbari, 26, is dead.

The young woman, who was convicted of killing a man who tried to sexually assault her, was hanged in a prison in Tehran on Saturday.

Shole Pakravan, Reyhaneh’s mother, confirmed her death in a heartbreaking Facebook post.

“My Reyhaneh was hanged,” the message reads in Arabic. “She had a fever when she danced at the gallows. Three people stood next to the gallows. Mother and …. and Jalal Sarbandi [the victim's oldest son]. I don’t know if they were sad or angry. I don’t know if I am patient or thinking.”

Reyhaneh’s case drew international attention after the United Nations and the international community raised concerns that the woman, who claimed to be a victim of sexual assault, was coerced into confessing to her crimes after being arrested and put on trial in 2009.

“The UN noted that her conviction was allegedly based on confessions made while under threat. I urge Iran to put a moratorium on all executions,” he UK Foreign Minister Tobias Ellwood said in a statement, echoing similar condemnations made by the US State Department of other nations.

Iran has gone ahead with an execution of a woman despite an international campaign urging a reprieve.

Reyhaneh Jabbari, 26, was hanged in a Tehran prison on Saturday morning. She had been convicted of killing a man she said was trying to sexually abuse her.

Jabbari was arrested in 2007 for the murder of Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former intelligence ministry worker.

Human rights group Amnesty International said her execution was "deeply disappointing in the extreme".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave one of the finest--and most important--addresses of his career Monday at the United Nations General Assembly, laying out a simple case against "militant Islam" that seems self-evident to many, but is anathema in elite foreign policy circles. Netanyahu expanded on his recent claims that ISIS and Hamas are essentially part of the same global effort, adding the Iranian regime to the equation.

Don't be fooled by distinctions between Sunni and Shia, between local attacks and transoceanic terror: these are important differences in other contexts, Netanyahu seemed to say, but all share the common revolutionary aim to impose a radical version of Islam on the world. Not all Muslims are militant, not all militants are Muslim, he said, but the major global threat comes from the phenomenon of militant Islam and its imperial ambitions.

And what they share in common, all militant Islamists share in common:

Iran set to execute woman accused of killing attempted rapist

An Iranian woman sentenced to death for killing a man who tried to rape her told her mother goodbye and prepared to die, even as the Islamic republic’s president was meeting with world leaders at the United Nations.

Rayhaneh Jabbari, 26, is set to be executed Tuesday, according to reports from Iran. On Monday, her mother, Shole Paravan, recounted on her Facebook page an emotional farewell call her daughter made when a sympathetic guard loaned her a cellphone before she was taken to Rajaiy Shahr Prison to be hanged.

“I am currently handcuffed and there is a car waiting outside to take me for the execution of the sentence,” Jabbari told her mother, whose recounting in Farsi was translated by FoxNews.com. “Goodbye, dear Mum. All of my pains will finish early tomorrow morning. I’m sorry I cannot lessen your pain. Be patient. We believe in life after death. I’ll see you in the next world and I will never leave you again because being separated from you is the most difficult thing to do in the world.”

As has been widely discussed, Grand Ayatollah Sistani recently issued a call for jihad against the terrorist organization currently rampaging throughout much of Iraq, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria ("ISIS," recently renamed the Islamic State). This call, however well intentioned, is not likely to be the solution to Iraq's problems and may in fact create more problems than it solves. The reason is not, as is commonly stated, that it will contribute to rising sectarianism in Iraq. In fact, Grand Ayatollah Sistani's call was phrased as ecumenically as it could be. It urged all Iraqis, and not merely Iraq's Shi'a, to join this jihad, though admittedly it is unlikely that significant numbers of non-Shi'a Iraqis would heed such a call. More importantly, the Grand Ayatollah made clear that volunteers should join the army itself rather than fight on behalf of any one of the numerous sectarian militias active in Iraq.

The problem, instead, is that the call to jihad operates on the principles of jihad long established among jurists operating in the Muslim tradition, and it hardly seems fitting for the type of modern warfare in which Iraq is currently engaged. As a result, it is not a solution to the real military problems with which Iraq is faced. To understand why, it is important to review the historic rules respecting jihad as jurists have laid them out.

Abandoned by the Islamist Obama administration, which has consistently attempted to goad her into a vulnerable position, smarting from the heinous murder of three of its young citizens and well-aware of ISIS operatives insinuating themselves into the Palestinian territories, is it only a matter of time before she does what is necessary to preserve her safety? With trembling Arab neighbors and a rattled Iran, will the Israeli government determine that vaporizing the whole of northern Iraq might be the best way to demonstrate once and for all that they are serious about Israel’s security – as well as putting an end to the invertebrate diplomacy Obama and his rubber-faced creature John Kerry are attempting to foist upon them?

I recall the long historical lessons from CNN and many nights with Bernard Shaw and Peter Arnette as Crisis in the Gulf (nightly on CNN at 6:30 CST) Became War in The Gulf. Stormin' Norman , AKA Norman Schwarzkopf, Jr. gave us a stirring report of the Astounding US Advance and always a good laugh. (normally at the expense of Saddam's laughable Army)

After 12 years, we repeated the Same invasion, this time going all the way to Baghdad.  BTW - those reports of Iraqi Soldiers throwing down their arms and running Away as ISIS advances that you are hearing on the news now are EXACTLY what Saddam's Army Did in 2003.  Many of them of course joined the Islamic Jihad in Iraq which kept us busy for another five years. But many Just RAN WAY never to fight again.


That SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT THE FEARLESS MUSLIM WARRIORS!

Now, it's SOS as the Old Sunni/Shia/Kurd question (that was never settled at all) resurfaces, this time with potentially devastating consequences for US interests and America.  The Iraq Mess is further complicated by reports that a number of former Ba’athist military commanders from the Saddam Hussein era had joined forced with ISIS in the effort to overthrow the Malarky regime. 


Anyway, as I did in 1991, I propose an easy, efficient and cost-effective solution to this vexing Dilemma:

State security forces loyal to the Emir arrested and jailed Hamdani for his remarks in Qatar.

Iran 'sending' drones and weapons to Iraq

Iran is secretly flying surveillance drones over Iraq and sending military equipment there to help Baghdad in its fight against Sunni insurgents, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

A "small fleet" of Ababil drones was deployed to the Al Rashid airfield near Baghdad, the newspaper said on its website, citing anonymous US officials.

Tehran has also installed an intelligence unit at the airfield to intercept electronic communications between ISIS fighters and commanders.
