Civil rights activist Jesse Jackson revved up hundreds of protesters Saturday night at the Portland Justice Center, recounting his time in Ferguson, Missouri and invoking the crowd to repeat Jackson’s words, chanting them back to him. 

Jackson’s speech was the opener to over four hours of protesting through Portland streets, promoted as dissatisfaction over the grand jury decision in the shooting death of Michael Brown.

"The fact is, for three and a half months, this was no jury of substance," Jackson said during his speech according to OregonLive. “No jury of integrity. No real America. This was a hangman’s noose,” Jackson said to the crowd.

"Michael Brown is more alive than his killer," KGW Portland reported of Jackson’s words. Jackson called for increased federal investigations into the Brown case and more federal intervention when police shootings occur. He indicated a need to overcome the bias he perceived, invoking the killing of Medger Evers

(AP Photo/David Goldman(CNSNews.com) - Maybe there wouldn't be so many white police officers in places like Ferguson, Mo., if black people "weren't killing each other 70 to 75 percent of the time," former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

The remark came in a heated discussion with Georgetown Professor Michael Eric Dyson, who told Giuliani that "white supremacy" is "at work in your mind."

“The white police officers wouldn’t be there if you weren’t killing each other 70 to 75 percent of the time,” Giuliani told Dyson at the height of their argument.

Little bundle of joy Leo David Hargreaves could just be the cheeriest baby in the country, according to his parents.

Not only does the five month-old smile all the time, he’s been smiling since before he was born.

A 4D ultrasound scan, taken when Leo’s mother, Amy Cregg, was 31 weeks’ pregnant, clearly shows him grinning from ear-to-ear.

Miss Cregg, 24, and her partner Leighton Hargreaves, of Church, Accrington Lancashire, say that baby Leo has continued to wear a perma-grin since he was born on June 30.

Vicious Hungarian Gypsy Killer in Court

GARY, Ind. (FOX 32 News) -

The man who has confessed to killing seven women whose bodies were found over the weekend in northwestern Indiana is due in court Wednesday morning.

Darren Deon Vann was arrested over the weekend after a missing person's report led police to a body in a bathtub at a Motel 6 in Hammond. He confessed to that murder and directed police to six more bodies. The first murder charge was filed against him on Monday.

Gary police are moving quickly in the cases of the three victims they have identified so far and say they have enough evidence to charge Vann with murder in those case. Those charges were expected to be filed within a few days.

Islamic fanatics are planning to infiltrate Britain’s Army and police forces to carry out brutal attacks, a chilling manifesto for terror used by Islamic State (IS) reveals.

The jihadi manual explains how the atrocities committed in the Middle East – including the brutal murders of British hostages David Haines and Alan Henning – are part of a wider strategy that includes plans to wreak mayhem in the UK.

The development comes after security sources revealed yesterday that thousands of terror suspects are being monitored in the UK. The Association of Chief Police Officers has also warned police officers about their personal safety in light of the threat from IS.

Federal judge halts key part of Texas abortion la

AUSTIN, Texas –  A federal judge Friday threw out new Texas abortion restrictions that would have effectively closed more than a dozen clinics in the state.

U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel sided with clinics that sued over one of the most disputed measures of a sweeping anti-abortion bill signed by Republican Gov. Rick Perry in 2013. The ruling stops new restrictions that would have left seven abortion facilities in Texas come Monday. There are currently 19 abortion providers in the state, according to groups challenging the law.

"The overall effect of the provisions is to create an impermissible obstacle as applied to all women seeking a previability abortion," Yeakel wrote in his 21-page ruling.

A 20-year-old Florida man accused of killing his friend had an image on his phone depicting a query asking Siri, the iPhone's voice assistant, for tips on where to hide a dead body, according to evidence introduced at his murder trial.

During the trial of Pedro Bravo, who is charged with kidnapping, strangling and murdering his friend Christian Aguilar in September 2012, prosecutors showed evidence that he had a photo of a Siri search that said, "I need to hide my roommate."

ALBUQUERQUE TEENS ALLEGEDLY BEAT HOMELESS MEN TO DEATH DURING SPEND-THE-NIGHT

Three Albuquerque, New Mexico teens--ages 15, 16, and 18--were arrested over the weekend for allegedly beating "two homeless men" to death and "leaving their bodies nearly unrecognizable."

A third homeless man was able to escape prior to being killed, and alerted police that he had seen one of the "kids" at "a house nearby." Police went to the house to find the 15 and 16-year-old siblings and 18-year-old Alex Rios, who had spent the night.

According to the Associated Press, officers discovered the bodies of the homeless men after responding to an 8 a.m. 911 call on July 19. They found "one lying on a mattress and another lying on the ground." Albuquerque police spokesman Simon Drobik said he was "personally...sick to [his] stomach because of the nature of the violence and the age of the offenders."

Black residents of Chicago’s South Side, who recently rallied to decry a spate of violence in the city, ripped President Obama for ignoring their plight while pushing for funding for illegal immigrants at their expense.

The protest against the rash of shootings was staged Friday at the Chicago Police Department headquarters building. Over the Fourth of July weekend, nine people were killed and more than 60 injured, authorities said.

Homicides in the District are up by more than half in the first six months of the year. But unlike the days when drive-by shootings and feuds among drug gangs propelled the deadly violence, the current uptick is the result of a spike in domestic killings behind closed doors that have contributed to more female homicide victims already than in all of 2013.

Through Monday, the city recorded 59 homicides — up sharply from the 38 at the same point last year. The figure marks a drastic departure from a generally downward trend in killings in the nation’s capital over the past decade and from declines in other big cities so far this year.

Hamas has warned Israel against waging war on the Gaza strip in retaliation for the deaths of three kidnapped Israeli youths, threatening that "the gates of hell will open" should action be taken.

The response came after Israeli prime minister Benjamin 

Netanyahu vowed: "Hamas is responsible and Hamas will pay", following the discovery of the bodies of the three missing youths yesterday.

The Israeli military struck 34 targets across the Gaza Strip overnight after more than 20 rockets were fired from the territory into Israel since late Sunday.

In full recording of teen’s emergency calls Muslims heard celebrating

JERUSALEM (JTA) — The full recording of the emergency call placed by one of three abducted teens, in which the kidnappers can be heard celebrating, was released.

Wednesday’s release of the full audio, which is 2 minutes, 9 seconds, comes a day after the first 49 seconds were released.

In the full tape, the kidnappers are heard singing in Arabic and cheering, as well as calling out “three!”

In the earlier recording, the teen who placed the call — believed to be Gilad Shaar — says he has been kidnapped. The kidnappers are heard yelling at the teens prior to sounds believed to be gunfire
