There is Nothing ISIS Has Done in Iraq that Boko Haram Hasn’t Already
ICC Note:
For years Boko Haram, a radical Islamic insurgency, has plagued minority Christian communities across north Nigeri. In 2014, Boko Haram has murdered more than 1,700 Christians, abducted more than 300 schoolgirls (90% of whom have been identified as professed Christians), set-up toll booths for terrorism, and declared towns under its control for the Islamic caliphate. All of this, and much more, was discussed at a recent hearing regarding international religious freedom held by the House Sub-committee for National Security Thursday.
09/20/2014 Nigeria (CBN) - Religious rights advocates told Congress Thursday there's a direct link between religious persecution and terrorism.
...
He pointed out that one State Department ambassador who traveled to numerous countries where persecution is taking place, failed to meet with any Christians representatives during those trips.
...
That may be one reason Ogebe told lawmakers that the administration has a "see no jihad, hear no jihad, say no jihad" policy when it comes to ISIS in Iraq and the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram in Nigeria.
"There is nothing ISIS has done in Iraq that Boko Haram hasn't already done in the last three years," Obege testified.
Meanwhile, Ogebe reported to Congress that Boko Haram has taken over six more cities in Nigeria in recent days.
And he said the group just forced one of the nearly 300 Christian girls it captured to become a suicide bomber. He says they strapped her with explosives a few weeks ago and blew her up in a school.

The Natives are Restless - Sharp increase in homicides in D.C
59 homicides up from the 38 at the same point last year
By Andrea Noble
-
The Washington Time
Homicides in the District are up by more than half in the first six months of the year. But unlike the days when drive-by shootings and feuds among drug gangs propelled the deadly violence, the current uptick is the result of a spike in domestic killings behind closed doors that have contributed to more female homicide victims already than in all of 2013.
Through Monday, the city recorded 59 homicides — up sharply from the 38 at the same point last year. The figure marks a drastic departure from a generally downward trend in killings in the nation’s capital over the past decade and from declines in other big cities so far this year.
“Domestic violence is our biggest challenge in terms of homicides,” said D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier.
