Taliban torch hundreds of 'NATO-supplying' fuel trucks near Kabul

Taliban fighters have been attacking convoys bringing supplies for NATO-led forces in landlocked Afghanistan for years now, but tankers have recently become their primary target.
The previous attack on fuel tankers took place June 19, when an attack of Taliban suicide bombers on a convoy of fuel trucks at the Pakistan border triggered a firefight between police guards and Islamist insurgents, resulting in 37 fuel trucks being burned.
ISAF troops, the US-led international contingent in Afghanistan, get most of their fuel supplies via the Pakistani port of Karachi.

The ISAF supply route via Pakistan has never been secure, because of the Taliban’s activities there and because the authorities in Islamabad and locals have more than once blocked the route because of thedrone war the US government is waging against the Islamists in the country, and also because of friendly fire incidents involving the US Air Force.

Bergdahl has not yet been asked why he left Afghan base: U.S. Army

Jun 26, 2014 at 5:03pm Afghanistan 23 Comments
U.S.-Army-Sgt.-Bowe-BergdahlWith all the allegations that he deserted and voluntarily sought out the Taliban, and the claims that he converted to Islam and was aiding in the Taliban’s jihad, this would seem to be an important question. But of course, Army officials don’t want to upset the poor lamb.
“Bergdahl has not yet been asked why he left Afghan base: U.S. Army,” Reuters, June 25, 2014 (thanks to Kenneth):
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl has made no admission of wrongdoing since being released by the Taliban last month, officials said on Wednesday, adding that he has yet to be asked the tough question of why he left base before his 2009 capture.

If Obama interred Americans in the name of 'national security,' liberals would cheer

"How can liberals defend the swap of five terrorists for one American soldier?" asked Savage, noting:

It's crazy the way so many people are defending Obama's actions.

I would wager that if Obama passed an emergency order to round up 10,000 Americans who supposedly posed a threat to the civil order and put them in internment camps, the very people who call themselves liberal would support that.

Obama would lie and say he's just doing it for the sake of the country, and promise they'd be released as soon as they completed their "re-education."

I guarantee that many Americans would support him.

All the loud-mouth, phony civil libertarians wouldn't even oppose Obama's mass internment of Americans.

After all, one of Obama's mentors did that.

Remember, good old "Honest Abe" Lincoln arrested journalists who didn't report on the Civil War in the "right" way.

So don't kid yourself and say, "It can't happen here."

It has happened here, and it will happen again.

Traitor being flown from Germany to US

Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. Army sergeant who spent five years as a captive in Afghanistan before being traded for five high-profile Taliban leaders, is coming back to the United States sometime late tonight or early tomorrow morning, Fox News has learned.
Bergdahl, who has been undergoing unspecified treatment at a U.S. facility in Landstuhl, Germany, since he was turned over to the U.S. on May 31, will be flown to Brook Army Medical Center, at Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio. It is not known how long he will remain there or if and when he will be questioned about the circumstances behind his apparently voluntary departure from an Army base in Afghanistan in 2009.
Word of his pending arrival came a day after U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel underwent tough questioning on Capital Hill from members of the House Armed Services Committee. Among other queries, lawmakers wanted to know why Bergdahl, whose Army peers have branded as a deserter whose capture put them in enhanced danger, was still in Germany.

Disturbing Facts Revealed About Bowe Bergdahl’s Father

Avatar of Kris Zane KRIS ZANE

During the last days before Taliban “prisoner” Bowe Bergdahl was released—we now know he deserted his unit, renounced his American citizenship in a note, and actively sought out the Taliban—his father was very busy.
On May 28, 2014, Robert Bergdahl tweeted out the following:
“I am still working to free all Guantanamo Bay prisoners. God will repay for the death of every Afghan child, amen!”
This tweet was actually tweeted to a Taliban spokesman!
A day later, he tweeted another Taliban Twitter account: “Democracy is a cult in the West” (and went on to defend sharia law.)

‘Just Admit It’: Administration privately concedes risk of Taliban swap, despite Kerry comments

Secretary of State John Kerry's dismissive "baloney" response to whether five Taliban members released from Guantanamo pose a risk to American troops is receiving pushback from, of all places, Obama administration officials.
Despite Kerry brushing off such concerns in an interview on Sunday, Fox News is told that administration officials who briefed members of the House on Monday evening were not ready to rule out the possibility that the freed inmates could endanger Americans.
Several lawmakers said administration officials admitted Monday there could be some additional risk to Afghan civilians and Americans because the five hardened Taliban members have been freed, in exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.

Judge ruled Taliban leader too dangerous to release

Obama went to court to keep one of the 'Taliban Five' freed in Bergdahl deal locked up at Guantanamo Bay – just three years ago!

The Obama administration released Khairulla Said Wali Khairkhwa and four other Taliban terror leaders to Qatari officials on May 31 in exchange for the safe return of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, a man now accused of desertion

The Obama administration released Khairulla Said Wali Khairkhwa and four other Taliban terror leaders to Qatari officials on May 31 in exchange for the safe return of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, a man now accused of desertion
In 2011 a federal judge ruled that one of the five Taliban terror leaders traded by the White House for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl nine days ago was too dangerous to consider releasing, even if he had little chance of ever receiving a trial.

The same Obama administration that downplayed the likelihood Khairulla Said Wali Khairkhwa could return to the battlefield against the U.S. argued three years ago that he should be denied habeas corpus rights and kept locked away in an orange jumpsuit at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility.
The U.S. solicitor general's office, arguing on behalf of the president – the named defendant in a federal lawsuit – told the court that Khairkhwa was in the class of terrorists who were actively involved in the leadership of a group that killed Americans.

U.S. District Judge Ricardo Urbina wrote that '[t]he government contends that the petitioner, a former senior Taliban official, is lawfully detained because he was part of Taliban forces and purposefully and materially supported such forces in hostilities against the United States.'

He was also 'a member of the Taliban's highest governing body, the Supreme Shura,' the judge wrote, and 'was a close associate of Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar, who appointed him Governor of the province of Herat in 1999.'
News of the apparent flip-flop in U.S. policy was

Taliban using weapons supplied by Obama's State Dept.

In his new book, “Dark Forces: The Truth About What Happened in Benghazi” (Broadside Books), writer Kenneth R. Timmerman explains how the US government’s efforts to arm the Libyan rebels backfired, flooding weapons into Syria, and as he reveals here, Afghanistan:
The Obama administration isn’t only giving the Taliban back its commanders — it’s giving them weapons.
Miliary records and sources reveal that on July 25, 2012, Taliban fighters in Kunar province successfully targeted a US Army CH-47 helicopter with a new generation Stinger missile.

OUTRAGE!! NY Times Smears Bowe Bergdahl’s Platoon Mates for His Desertion

Anything to help Obama and further their leftist cause…
The New York Times has now decided to smear Bowe Bergdahl’s platoon mates for his decision to desert them and join with the Taliban.
The gall of these people!
Bash the troops and praise a deserter!
That’s the left’s new game plan.
Bergdahl’s platoon mates were very vocal last week and in 100% agreement that Bowe Bergdahl was a deserter. The platoon mates said the Obama administration “spit in the face” of those brave soldiers who did serve their country with honor.

Platoon medic: Bergdahl 'not a hero'

A member of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s platoon in Afghanistan said Sunday the former Taliban prisoner deserted his post before being captured and fired back against Obama administration arguments that only Bergdahl knows exactly what happened.
“After Bowe Bergdahl purposely and willfully walked away, every single mission was titled toward finding him,” platoon medic Joshua Cornelison told “Fox News Sunday.” “We were there. This isn’t some second- or third-hand account.”
Cornelison’s comments come several days after a State Department spokeswoman told Fox News that Bergdahl is “probably the person who knows best what happened on that night” and dismissed published accounts from platoon mates about the events surrounding Bergdahl’s June 5, 2009, disappearance and capture.
“The American people need to be educated that Bowe Bergdahl is not a hero.”

WikiLeaks document backs up U.S. soldier's claim Bowe Bergdahl tried to contact Taliban

Days after the disappearance of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, U.S. soldiers intercepted radio communications revealing that an American soldier in a nearby village was looking for someone to help him communicate in English with unknown agents, according to the 28-year-old Idahoan's former team leader.

"I heard it straight from the interpreter's lips as he heard it over the radio," former Army Sgt. Evan Buetow, who served in Bergdahl's unit, said Tuesday in a CNN interview. "There's a lot more to this story than a soldier walking away."

MY SON DIED 'LOOKING FOR A TRAITOR?'

Gold Star mom: 'This guy was worth my son's life?'

Sondra Andrews’ son, 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews, is one of six soldiers killed reportedly while searching for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
The sergeant’s return to captivity has stirred “very raw emotions.”
“It gets really hurtful when I think, this guy was worth my son’s life? My son who was patriotic? Who was a true soldier? Who defended his country with his life?” Andrews told Army Times via phone on Monday. “That guy was worth that? I don’t think so.”
Andrews also was upset to hear the U.S. government agreed to release five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Bergdahl’s freedom.

After #Bergdahl disappeared, “IEDs started going off directly under the trucks. They were getting perfect hits every time.”

Bergdahl should be tried for treason. Obama should be investigated in order to determine how much of this he knew before he traded the Taliban jihadis for Bergdahl, and if necessary, tried as well. But that won’t happen. A teary-eyed Boehner will explain that the five jihadis just had to be traded for Bergdahl, and while he would have preferred to send back just four, he will settle.

'Bergdahl was a deserter, and soldiers from his own unit died trying to track him down'

For five years, soldiers have been forced to stay silent about the disappearance and search for Bergdahl. Now we can talk about what really happened.
It was June 30, 2009, and I was in the city of Sharana, the capitol of Paktika province in Afghanistan. As I stepped out of a decrepit office building into a perfect sunny day, a member of my team started talking into his radio. “Say that again,” he said. “There’s an American soldier missing?”
There was. His name was Private First Class Bowe Bergdahl, the only prisoner of war in the Afghan theater of operations. His release from Taliban custody on May 31 marks the end of a nearly five-year-old story for the soldiers of his unit, the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment. I served in the same battalion in Afghanistan and participated in the attempts to retrieve him throughout the summer of 2009. After we redeployed, every member of my brigade combat team received an order that we were not allowed to discuss what happened to Bergdahl for fear of endangering him. He is safe, and now it is time to speak the truth.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl's father tweeted pro-Taliban comments directed at terrorist website while son was a prisoner in Afghanistan

One of the tweets has been removed from the Twitter account that appeared to belong to Bob Bergdahl, whose son vanished in 2009 while serving in Afghanistan. Soldiers from his platoon called him a deserter who recklessly endangered Americans and disrupted counter-insurgency operations. At least six soldiers were reportedly killed in the aftermath of his disappearance.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl wanted to talk to the Taliban — and after his capture his father apparently did just that.
The soldier whose disappearance led to the death of six of his fellow soldiers deserted his post in a harebrained attempt to communicate with the enemy, his team leader in Afghanistan told the Daily News Monday.
Sgt. Evan Buetow, 28, recalled he was among a small team including an interpreter who spied on radio and cell communications in the area of their base on the frontlines in eastern Afghanistan, listening for clues to the Bergdahl’s whereabouts following his disappearance on June 30,

Breaking with its long-held policy of refusing to negotiate with terrorist organizations, the White House has agreed to release five Taliban prisoners in exchange for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who has been held by the Talibanin Afghanistan since June 30, 2009.
The peaceful transfer of Bergdahl into the hands of American special-operations forces took place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Good that this hero is free,  but negotiating with the Terrorists is something we will regret. And if this precedent leads to the same lopsided prisoner swaps that the Israelis have engaged in for years with the Pallies, we are in BIG TROUBLE!
