Canada on high alert since the two jihad murders of Canadian soldiers last week.

(Reuters) – Police have jailed a Pakistani gun collector living in Ontario, alleging he is a terrorist threat to Canada, his lawyer said on Thursday, days after attacks in which two Canadian soldiers were killed.

Muhammad Aqeeq Ansari, a 30-year-old software designer, was arrested on Monday on allegations he has ties to militants in Pakistan, has amassed an arsenal of firearms, and has expressed extreme views on Twitter, his lawyer, Anser Farooq, said.

Ansari, who does not have Canadian citizenship, is being charged under Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act with being a danger to the security of Canada, Farooq said. He faces deportation.

Farooq, who has defended other clients on terrorism-related charges, said he has received numerous calls from people who have been contacted by police and intelligence since the attacks last week that killed one soldier in Ottawa and another in Quebec…

• Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, 32, was shot dead after opening fire at Parliament Hill

• He was born in Quebec but reportedly recently converted to Islam and had his passport seized after being designated a ‘high-risk traveler’

• He shot reserve soldier Corporal Nathan Cirillo at the National War Memorial before running inside Parliament and exchanging gunfire with guards

• Heroic Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers shot him dead

Canada Parliament Shooter Had ‘Black and White Palestinian Head Scarf Over His Face’

Details are finally creeping out slowly about the shooter killed in the Canadian Parliament shooting this afternoon. One eyewitness describes a detail that may tie the attack to Islamism:

From the National Post:

A friend, who does not wish to be identified, said he saw the whole thing from his office window, overlooking the Cenotaph.

“I saw the whole thing; it was unbelievable. Three shots, two at point blank range,” he said. The shooter was young, 30ish, Caucasian and male. He had dark, longish hair, facial hair and a black and white Palestinian type head scarf over his face, which he pulled down after the shooting. Then he held up the gun and shouted something that I didn’t hear.”

He has been identified as 32-year old Michael Zehaf-Bibeau.

ISIS Terror at Home - #OttawaShooting

A counterterrorism source tells Fox News that there was a spike in Islamic State-related online chatter focusing on Canada in the days leading up to the shooting Wednesday in the capital of Ottawa. 

Multiple gunmen stormed the Canadian Parliament complex on Wednesday, shooting at least one soldier and spraying as many as 30 shots inside the government building. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting. 

But the counterterrorism source said there was an increase in chatter in the five days leading up to the attack, focusing on Canada's decision to join the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS -- including threats that the "day of reckoning" is coming. 

ISIS followers also have taken to Twitter to comment on the Canada shooting. 

One translated tweet provided to Fox News said: "soldiers of #Islamic_state who are everywhere around the globe declared war on the coalition countries"

In a 42-minute audio speech, Abu Muhammad Al-Adnani urged ISIS supporters to kill Canadians, Americans, Australians, French and other Europeans, regardless of whether they were civilians or members of the military.

“Rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be. Do not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict. Kill the disbeliever whether he is civilian or military, for they have the same ruling,” he said.

And Jdey is, of course, by no means alone in this: many other jihadis could return from the Islamic State to the U.S., Canada, Britain and Western Europe, and wreak havoc back “home.” By going to fight for the Islamic State, the jihadis have effectively declared themselves to be traitors, as the Islamic State has declared that it is at war with the U.S. and other Western countries. Thus they have forfeited the rights and privileges of citizens, and should not be allowed back into their countries of origin. But that, apparently, would be “Islamophobic.”
