YOU HAVE A 44% CHANCE OF CONTRACTING THE EBOLA VIRUS

Posted on October 27, 2014

ebola-by-planeDave Hodges 10-27-14   Modern medicine has a good idea of the course of the virus and the lethality of the Ebola virus. First, the signs and symptoms typically start between two days and three weeks after contracting the virus. The early presentingsymptoms are a fever, sore throat, muscle discomfort and a severe headache. Vomiting ensues followed by diarrhea and a severe rash. The liver and kidneys begin to fail. In the final stages, victims begin to bleed internally and externally. Death occurs between six to sixteen days. The official cause of death is normally from low blood pressure as a result of bodily fluid loss. The present estimate is that around 70% of the people whocontract Ebola are going to die.

The remainder of this article will seek to scientifically answer the following questions based upon the best data available: How fast will the will the Ebola virus spread? How long will it take for Ebola to reach its apex? Will the transmission rates for Ebola be the same in the United States as it is/was in West Africa? Finally, what are odds of contracting virus?

CHICAGO (Associated Press) -
U.S. health officials are recommending that people who are at highest risk for coming down with Ebola avoid commercial travel or attending large public gatherings, even if they have no symptoms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the updated advice to state and local officials on Monday.
The CDC guidance comes after the governors of New York and New Jersey announced mandatory quarantines for medical workers returning from three West African countries plagued by the worst Ebola outbreak in world history. Illinois and Maryland have announced quarantines for health workers at high risk for getting the disease, including anyone who's touched an Ebola patient's body fluids without protective gear.
Previously the CDC has recommended screening of travelers from West Africa and monitoring of people for three weeks after they arrive in the United States.
On Monday, the CDC broke down people in the orbit of Ebola into four categories. Those at highest risk are anyone who's had direct contact with an Ebola patient's body fluids, including health care workers who suffer a needle-stick injury during a patient's care.

Cybercriminals Using Ebola-Themed Threats

The Ebola epidemic has migrated online, where cybercriminals are using the virus to infect more people with malware. First, the United States Computer Readiness Team, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, issued an advisory warning users about spam campaigns that used the Ebola virus to bait users into clicking on malicious web links or attachments. Now, Trustwave, a private security and compliance consulting company, discovered several Ebola-themed threats.

Ebola Cases pass 10,000, WHO reports

Previous

Burial in Monrovia, Liberia, 24 OctLiberia remains the worst affected country, with 4,665 cases
The number of cases in the Ebola outbreak has exceeded 10,000, with 4,922 deaths, the World Health Organization says in its latest report.
Only 27 of the cases have occurred outside the three worst-hit countries, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.
Those three countries account for all but 10 of the fatalities.
Mali became the latest nation to record a death, a two-year-old girl. More than 40 people known to have come into contact with her have been quarantined.
The latest WHO situation report says that Liberia remains the worst affected country, with 2,705 deaths. Sierra Leone has had 1,281 fatalities and there have been 926 in Guinea.

Ebola: Nearly 5,000 dead in new WHO toll – but figure could be three times higher - VIDEO

At least 4,877 people have died in the world’s worst recorded outbreak of Ebola, and at least 9,936 cases of the disease had been registered.

The latest grim figures come from the World Health Organisation, which recognises that the true toll may be three times as high.

Liberia has been worst hit, with 4,665 recorded cases and 2,705 deaths, followed by Sierra Leone with 3,706 cases and 1,259 deaths. Guinea, where the outbreak originated, has had 1,540 cases and 904 deaths.

Although the disease has been contained in Nigeria and Senegal, it is now said to be spreading towards Ivory Coast.

Among outside help arriving in Liberia and in Guinea are dozens of doctors and nurses from Cuba. Its communist government has already sent 165 health professionals to Sierra Leone.

It is the latest example of Cuba’s medical diplomacy. The Caribbean island has dispatched medical brigades to disaster sites around the world since the 1959 revolution that brought Fidel Castro to power.

ISIS brings Ebola Terror to USA

WHITE HOUSE ADMITS U.S. BORDER CRISIS--TO OPPOSE EBOLA TRAVEL BAN

 21 Oct 2014, 5:13 AM PDT 333POST A COMMENT

One of the best arguments against a travel ban against the African countries where Ebola has broken out is that it would be ineffective, given the porous U.S. borders. Someone determined to travel to the U.S. would find a way. Surprisingly, that is the argument trotted out by White House deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes to explain why there is no travel ban. Previously, the White House has touted its efforts toward border security.

"We believe a travel ban could actually endanger people more by driving them underground and having them seek ways to find ways into the United States that are outside the existing travel protocols," Rhodes told MSNBC on Monday.
That flies in the face of what Democrats and their media allies have insisted recently --namely, that there is no border crisis. It took the debate over an Ebola travel ban to bring out the truth.

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION BEGINS TO CRACK ON EBOLA TRAVEL BAN

President Barack Obama’s administration is beginning to crack on travel restrictions from Ebola-stricken countries.

While not a full travel ban, the Department of Homeland Security has announced partial travel restrictions that will go into effect Wednesday morning.
“Today, as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s ongoing response to prevent the spread of Ebola to the United States, we are announcing travel restrictions in the form of additional screening and protective measures at our ports of entry for travelers from the three West African Ebola-affected countries,” DHS secretary Jeh Johnson said in a Tuesday morning statement. “These new measures will go into effect tomorrow.”
Johnson noted how last week, in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DHS began “enhanced screening measures” at New York’s JFK airport, Newark airport, Washington Dulles airport, and at Atlanta’s and Chicago’s airports.
