McALLEN - Children entering the country illegally are being tested for things like scabies and lice. Most, however, are not being tested for HIV.

The Valley AIDS Council is only testing children that may remain in the United States long-term.

"What's important for folks to realize is that those youths are going to be here long-term," said Oscar Lopez, director of education and prevention at VIC.

"They do get screened and get a fantastic education with the different programs that are part of sex education, counseling and testing - if they want or need it," Lopez said.

Lopez said hundreds have been tested for HIV and less than 1/2 percent of the results were positive for the virus.

Networks Let Obama Escape Blame for Yet Another Crisis of His Making

On Tuesday, Univision’s Jorge Ramos did something his colleagues at the Big Three networks have been reluctant to do. He pinned the blame for the ongoing border crisis squarely on Barack Obama’s immigration policies. 

Writing in the June 24 edition of Miami’s El Nuevo Herald (translation courtesy of MRC Latino’s Ken Oliver-Mendez), Ramos blasted the President: “This crisis of children is an unfortunate consequence of the immigration policies of President Obama. First, in concentrating his deportations on ‘criminals’ it became clear he wasn’t going to deport adolescent children. Second, upon offering the ‘deferred action’ protection (DACA) to more than half a million Dreamers - or undocumented students - there’s the hope that he will keep treating recently arrived minors with the same generosity. And third, the reality is that the majority of the 24,000 children detained last year have not been deported, and neither, surely, will the 90,000 of 2014.” 

Since coverage began on June 8 the Big Three networks have done their best to avoid blaming Obama for scores of unaccompanied children illegally crossing the U.S. border. From June 8 through June 26 ABC, CBS and NBC have offered a total of 31 stories on the border crisis, on their evening and morning shows, and in only 5 (16 percent) have they brought up Obama immigration policies as a contributing factor to the crisis.

Texas Border Town Might Have To Dip Into Reserves To Pay For Surge Of Immigrants

Officials in a Texas border town are calling on the federal government to compensate the city for money it spent to help manage a surge of illegal immigrants that were apprehended at the border and released.

McAllen officials say the city has spent $68,000 over the past two weeks to deal with the influx of immigrants, most of whom are coming from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

“We set up a special account to capture the costs associated with this unbudgeted item,” McAllen city attorney Kevin Pagan told the McAllen Monitor.

After U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents apprehend the immigrants, many of whom are minors without parents, they are given notices to appear in court for deportation proceedings and released into the city.

TUCSON, Ariz. (CBS Las Vegas) — Border Patrolagents in Arizona were reportedly fired upon by a Mexican military helicopter that traveled across the border.

KVOA-TV reports that Mexican authorities were conducting a drug interdiction operation when the incident happened early Thursday morning on the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation. The Mexican chopper fired at the agents and then flew back into Mexico.

Art del Cueto, Border Patrol Tucson Sector union president, tells KVOA that they called and apologized for the incident.

Dems block measure to stop illegals from getting jobs, free money in USA...

Senate Democrats blocked Republicans on Thursday from passing two bills that would require companies to verify the legal status of people before they hire them, and stop the government from handing out child tax credits to illegal immigrants.

Sessions tried to get approval for the two bills after saying illegal immigration is swamping the U.S., which is leading to reduce wages for Americans and higher costs as these immigrants start improperly receiving federal tax benefits.

He first tried to pass the Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act, sponsored by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa.) That bill would require companies to verify whether possible employees are legally able to work in the country.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents spend their days running the arriving unaccompanied alien children, or UACs, to the showers, bringing blankets to the launderers, preparing food and making trips to grocery stores.

These activities and more, including providing video games to the UAC’s, were extensively documented in a University of Texas at El Paso study titled “Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) Project.” The research was funded by and partnered with the Department of Homeland Security.

Authors of the March 20 study, which received nearly no news media attention, conducted interviews and site visits with border agents and officials from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, who work daily with UACs.

Key Chairman Blames Obama's Lack of Enforcement for Killing Immigration Reform

With the flood of immigrants, Obama's lack of enforcement has “come home to roost.”

Immigration reform is deader than ever in 2014 and the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee says President Obama is to blame.

By refusing to halt the current “surge” of illegal immigration, Rep. Bob Goodlatte of Virginia said Thursday, Obama has made it “extremely difficult” to pass any reform of the immigration laws.  Enforcement at the border must be “the leading component” of reform legislation, he said, but it isn’t happening.

Instead, the president has created a broad new exception to immigration law to permit tens of thousands of young immigrants to cross the U.S. border with Mexico and stay in this country.  But he lacks the constitutional authority to make this change in the law unilaterally, Goodlatte said.

As judiciary chairman, Goodlatte is an important figure in the immigration debate. His committee passed five separate immigration bills earlier this year as part of the step-by-step approach favored by Republicans.  Obama and Democrats insist that immigration reform be packaged in a single “comprehensive” bill.

Swine Flu enters USA via Illegal Aliens at Texas Crossing

A young illegal immigrant child from Central America was diagnosed with swine flu Friday after crossing the Texas-Mexico border, necessitating 2,000 vaccines be shipped to Lackland Air Force Base to treat people who may have been exposed, U.S. authorities confirmed to TheBlaze.

The child was diagnosed after being transported from a border holding facility to the base, where he showed signs of illness and had to be hospitalized. It’s the first known case of the H1N1 virus to be diagnosed among the recent surge of unaccompanied immigrant children to arrive at the base, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said.

According to an investigation by Action 4 Newsin Harlingen, Texas, underage gang members are being released without supervision into American neighborhoods near the border and beyond. San Juan Police Chief Juan Gonzalez explained that such a policy could have tragic consequences in our society … “They are not your average person that wants to better their lives,” he said.
The majority of these thugs are easily identifiable, according to the National Border Patrol Council … “they are usually pretty predominant with their tattoos,” noting they typically display “a lot of face tattoos.”…Nevertheless, when gangsters under the age of 17 – and without a U.S. criminal history – are detained by border guards, they are subsequently sent on their way, free to terrorize American neighborhoods.

Customs and Border Protection agents are quitting the agency in protest of the practice of releasing minors from detention known to be gang members, a South Texas news outlet reports.

Regardless of whether the minors are inked with gang-affiliated tattoos, and regardless of whether they admit to agents that they are actual gang members, so long as they have no US criminal record, CBP agents are being forced to release them onto the streets of America, a Border Patrol union representative says.

“They are confirmed either by tattoos or by self admission,” the vice president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307in the Rio Grande Valley, Chris Cabrera, told KRGV. “But since they have no criminal record

Incursions by armed Mexicans put border agents in regular standoffs

Armed Mexican troops and police regularly stray across the U.S. border, according to statistics the Department of Homeland Security provided to Congress on Tuesday that indicate more than 500 of them have jumped the border in the past decade.

Gil Kerlikowske, commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said in a letter to Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican, that, in many of those cases, the armed Mexican military or law enforcement personnel ended up in confrontations with American authorities, and 131 people were detained.

A top member of Congress called on President Obama on Monday to deploy the National Guard to the southwest border to help the Border Patrol handle the surge of illegal immigrant children.

Rep. Candice Miller, Michigan Republican and chairwoman of a key border security subcommittee, sent a letter saying that Border Patrol agents need to be put back on patrol duty rather than processing or babysitting for the children who have been caught trying to enter.

Obama's surge of gang members into USA

Border Patrol officials struggling to keep up with the increasing number of minors illegally crossing the Mexican border are not turning away persons with known gang affiliations. Chris Cabrera, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3307 in the Rio Grande Valley, explained that a Border Patrol agent he represents helped reunite a teenage gang member with his family in the United States. Cabrera notes the young member of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), a transnational criminal gang, had no criminal record in the U.S., but asks, “If he’s a confirmed gang member in his own country, why are we letting him in here?”

EX-BORDER AGENTS: IMMIGRANT FLOOD 'ORCHESTRATED'

An organization of former Border Patrol agents Wednesday charged that the federal government, under the administration of President Obama, is deliberately arranging for a flood of immigrant children to arrive in America for political purposes.

“This is not a humanitarian crisis. It is a predictable, orchestrated and contrived assault on the compassionate side of Americans by her political leaders that knowingly puts minor illegal alien children at risk for purely political purposes,” said the statement released by the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers.

“Certainly, we are not gullible enough to believe that thousands of unaccompanied minor Central American children came to America without the encouragement, aid and assistance of the United States government,” the officers said.
