FEDERAL APPEALS COURT UPHOLDS GOD'S LAW

CINCINNATI (AP) — A federal appeals court on Thursday upheld anti-gay marriage laws in four states, breaking ranks with other courts that have considered the issue and setting up the prospect of Supreme Court review.

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel that heard arguments on gay marriage bans or restrictions in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee on Aug. 6 split 2-1, with Circuit Judge Jeffrey Sutton writing the majority opinion. The ruling creates a divide among federal appeals courts, increasing the likelihood the Supreme Court will now take up the issue.

The ruling concluded that states have the right to set rules for marriage.

It followed more than 20 court victories for supporters of same-sex marriage since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down part of the federal Defense of Marriage Act last year. A federal judge in Louisiana recently upheld that state's ban, but four U.S. appeals courts ruled against state bans.

The issue appears likely to return to the Supreme Court so the nation's highest court can settle whether states can ban gay marriage or that gay and lesbian couples have a fundamental right to marry under the U.S. Constitution. Thirty-two states recently asked the Supreme Court to settle the issue once and for all.

Government charges 'mischief' for presentation to university students

The head of an American nonprofit organization is scheduled to face trial in Canada later this month on a charge of “mischief” for discussing with college students the dangers of homosexuality.

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth, reported on his organization’s website that he will return to Regina, Saskatchewan, for a trial on a count of criminal “mischief” which developed in April “after we resisted a police order to abandon our peaceful pro-life/pro-family protest at the University of Regina.”

LaBarbera said that at the April 14 protest at the University of Regina he held up someone’s sign that said “Sodomy Is a Sin” and a large placard showing an unborn baby.

He wrote: “Who can blame the University of Regina and Canadian cops for cracking down on such unbridled and sinister HATE?!”

Florida dad beats the hell out of gay perv he found allegedly raping his son, report says

A Florida dad who told police he walked in on a man sexually abusing his child, left the suspect motionless and bleeding Friday morning on the living room floor, police said.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported that the suspect was found at the Daytona Beach home at about 1 a.m. Friday. The paper, citing the arrest report, said Raymond Frolander was found with several knots on his face and bleeding from the mouth.

The 35-year-old father and his son were not identified, but the father reportedly walked in on Frolander sexually battering his son.

A student at a Christian university in Oklahoma is upset because she got kicked out of school when school officials saw the pictures of her same-sex marriage she posted on Facebook.

The student is senior Christian Minard, a now-former student at Southwestern Christian University in the suburbs of Oklahoma City, reports local Fox affiliate KOKH. She was a semester from graduation when she got the boot.

Southwestern Christian is a religious institution affiliated with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. The school bans tobacco, alcohol, premarital sex, cursing and — wouldn’t you know it? — homosexuality.
