How to Maximize Linkedin to Widen Customer Reach Faceboo
Posted on December 30th 2014
Since its launch in 2003, LinkedIn has grown into a massive social media presence with more than 300 million users. For companies, it has become a reliable platform for reaching out to both their business partners and target customers. While it can tune up your company’s image, it could also create detrimental effects if not properly managed. To increase your chances of being noticed by your customers, here are three key points you should keep in mind.
1. Create an impressive profile
Upon visiting your company's LinkedIn page, visitors are almost immediately drawn to its banner image. So make sure to design a clear banner image that carries your company's branding, including your company logo or name.
While it is advisable for the bio to be brief, you'll need to provide complete information about your company and the products and services you offer. Including achievements and projects that your target demographic is familiar with can help build your reputation and increase both followers and potential customers. As such, it's also important to provide contact details and links to your website and other online properties.'

3 Big Reasons Why I Use #LinkedIn
by Alex Pirouz - 4
Categories: LinkedIn, LinkedIn Marketing, Social Media
LinkedIn is “the” professionals social network. Recent reports reveal that there are over 332 million users and one in three professionals are members.
The question isn’t whether you should be on it but “how” you should use it.
When I first started learning about social media I spent the first 12 months investing a lot of my time and money to really discover which platform would work best for our business and give me the return on investment I was looking for.
Here are 3 big reasons why I use LinkedIn as my key platform.
#1. Media
Gaining media exposure on a consistent basis is a powerful way to boost your credibility in the marketplace, get your message in front of thousands of people and position you as an authority figure within the industry. This will ultimately drive the bottom line if effectively used.
But for far too long the traditional methods of getting media coverage have either been too expensive or time consuming. But thanks to LinkedIn you can now start connecting and building relationships with hundreds of journalists and editors from around the world.
According to the Arketi Media Group over 94.2% journalist and editors are now on LinkedIn. Now if that’s not exciting enough in its self, let me share with you two reasons why journalist are absolutely dying to get in touch with you.
Having dealt with hundreds of journalist over the past few years I’ve come to realize that they constantly face two main challenges:
- Sick and tired of going through press releases
- And they don’t having access to key experts at their fingertips
I remember when I first read the report from Arteki media group; I got really excited. At the time I was really looking to build my personal brand as a business mentor.
That week I made a list of the publications I wanted to get featured in and shortly after I started connecting with journalist and editors. What started off as a connection here and there quickly escalated to a network of 250 contacts in the space of a few months.
Over the past few years this network has helped me and the companies I’ve been involved in get free media exposure across 50+ media publications including: Forbes, Inc, Entrepreneur, NBC News, Huffington Post and many others.

Ever been to a business networking event and wondered why you bothered.
You had your ear twisted, cards shoved into your hand and the next day emails arrive in your inbox trying to “sell” you? You then thought… “there has to be a better way?”
Recently I bumped into Alex Pirouz, not in a room full of suits and ties but on LinkedIn. I checked him out on Google, then LinkedIn and after that we caught up for a coffee.
Much of the conversation was how he had used LinkedIn to reinvent his business and apply its technology to enable effective and powerful business networking and grow his revenue.
While we chatted over a coffee he revealed how he had used LinkedIn over the past few years to:
- Get featured in over 50 media publications without sending out a single press release
- Grow his business advisory firms by over 328% by securing joint venture partnerships through LinkedIn
- Generate thousands of leads whilst spending $0 on advertising or marketing

5 LinkedIn privacy tips every lawyer should know
Elyse Hackney (@ecoopers), a customer success executive at Hearsay Social, recently shared 5 LinkedIn privacy tips for financial advisors. After I shared her tips on Twitter, Hackney was kind enough to allow me to share, liberally, her advice with you.
Like financial services, the legal profession places a premium on privacy. At the same time, lawyers ought not be so protective so as to be invisible and ineffective networking on LinkedIn.
Here’s five LinkedIn privacy settings you ought to take a look at. Each of the settings, other than the fifth, are configured on the LinkedIn Privacy Settings Review link reached through Account settings by clicking on your small photo on the top right of your LinkedIn profile page. See below.

Illinois Social Media Law Case Summaries
MALIBU MEDIA v. JOHN DOE subscriber assigned IP address 50.90.55.202
United States District Court, S.D. Indiana, Indianapolis Division.
ORDER ON MOTION TO PROCEED ANONYMOUSLY
This matter came before the Court on Movant John Doe's Ex Parte Motion to Proceed Anonymously. T
This is an action for copyright infringement brought against a defendant, who is identifiable to Plaintiff Malibu Media, LLC only by his Internet Protocol ("IP") address.[Movant under anonymity, filed a Motion to Dismiss a Motions to Quash. The Court issued an Order to Show Cause requiring the Movant to, within 14 days from the date of the Order, identify himself for the record or file an ex parte motion to proceed anonymously,The Movant did not comply with the order as the Movant has not identified himself for the record and the instant motion,
Allowing the use of a fictitious name in litigation is disfavored. Doe v. Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin, 112 F.3d 869, 872 (7th Cir. 1997). "Identifying the parties to the proceeding is an important dimension of publicness. The people have a right to know who is using their courts."
When evaluating a request to proceed anonymously, courts will consider a number of factors.
The Movant's main argument is that it would be "highly embarrassing" to be named as a defendant related to pornographic movies. However, this does not appear to be such a case involving disclosure. In cases where embarrassment over being named in a lawsuit is an unavoidable part of the process. The remedy is not to depart from the "constitutionally-embedded presumption" of openness of judicial proceedings but to vigorously defend the lawsuit.
The Ex Parte Motion to Proceed Anonymously was DENIED. IT WAS HEREBY ORDERED that the Movant identify himself for the record within seven (7) days of the date of the Order. Absent that, the Movant is hereby Ordered to Show Cause, within ten days of the date of this Order, why the Motion toDismiss and the Motion to Quash should not be stricken.

TELEMEDICINE SOLUTIONS LLC v. WOUNDRIGHT TECHNOLOGIES, LLC.
United States District Court, N.D. Illinois, Eastern Division.
Plaintiff Telemedicine Solutions LLC and Defendant WoundRight Technologies, LLC are purveyors of electronic systems and products aimed at medical practitioners. Plaintiff's system is called WoundRounds; Defendant's, is called WoundRight. In its complaint against Defendant Plaintiff alleged Defendant infringed on and diluted Plaintiff's trademark; engaged in unfair competition, cyberpiracy, and deceptive trade practices, disparaged and defamed Plaintiff; and tortiously interfered with Plaintiff's economic advantage.
Plaintiff is a limited liability company organized under the laws of Illinois in July 2005. Its principal place of business is Schaumburg, Illinois. Soon after its founding, Plaintiff entered the wound care industry, promoting, marketing, selling, and providing services related to its "Wound Rounds" system, an electronic documentation and wound care management system. Plaintiff registered the domain name "woundrounds.com" in February 2006, and thereafter augmented its online presence by using social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter
Defendant is a limited liability company organized under the laws of Wyoming with its principal place of business in Laramie, Wyoming. Defendant uses the term "WoundRight" to denote its goods and services, which according to Plaintiff are "the same or nearly identical" to Plaintiff's "WoundRounds" goods and services. Defendant does not have (and never has had) any physical presence in Illinois.. Defendant never has sold any products or services to customers in Illinois.
Defendant, like Plaintiff, maintains a presence on the Internet beyond its website. Defendant uses social media, including Facebook and Twitter, to communicate with potential customers throughout the United States.Through these social media channels, Defendant promotes its product and calls attention to the wound care field generally.
Plaintiff alleged that Defendant transacted business in Illinois via its advertising, marketing, and solicitation activities and its website; and its placement of its product into the stream of commerce in Illinois. Plaintiff asserts claims arising under the Lanham Act, Illinois statutory law, and the common law.
The federal test for personal jurisdiction under the Due Process Clause of Fourteenth Amendment authorizes a court to exercise jurisdiction over a non-resident defendant only if the defendant has "certain minimum contacts with [the state] such that the maintenance of the suit does not offend `traditional notions of fair play and substantial justice.'" I
The Seventh Circuit has distilled a three-pronged "express aiming" test for personal jurisdiction in the context of intentional torts: " (1) intentional conduct (or `intentional and allegedly tortious conduct'); (2) expressly aimed at the forum state; (3) with the defendant's knowledge that the effects would be felt — that is, the plaintiff would be injured — in the forum state.
The Seventh Circuit has held that "[a]t a minimum, the plaintiff must establish a colorable or prima facie showing of personal jurisdiction before discovery should be permitted."Because Plaintiff failed to make such a prima facie showing, and had not indicated how additional discovery from Defendant would enable it to do so, the Court denied the request for jurisdictional discovery.
The Court granted Defendant's motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction. Since the Court lacked personal jurisdiction over Defendant, it did not assess the merits of Defendant's alternative requests to dismiss for improper venue, transfer venue,

Turkish Twitter Users Circumvent Ban Via HootSuite - It is TIME TO FIGHT BACK!!!!
Yesterday, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan announced an attempt to “eradicate” Twitter. The move was a response to criticism on the social network of widespread corruption in his government.
The ban has so far proved ineffective. Today, The Guardian reported that Twitter users in Turkey have managed to send 2.5 million tweets since the announcement. Turkey ranks 8th in the world in Twitter penetration, and the government’s recent efforts to curb its citizens access to social media do not appear to be diminishing their enthusiasm for it.
HootSuite has emerged as one of the tools Twitter users are turning to as a means of circumventing the ban. Our traffic from Turkey has tripled in 24 hours. Through HootSuite, users can access their Twitter accounts, as well as Facebook, Google+ Pages and LinkedIn accounts. This follows the pattern we observed during the Arab Spring uprising in Egypt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is EXACTLY WHY it is high time to FIGHT BACK! The enemies of the USA and West have been attacking our computer networks, phone networks and more for decades and we have done little more than to play fix it.
IT IS TIME TO FIGHT BACK!!!
Let's start ATTACKING THEM!!!!

10 Simple Tips to Double your LinkedIn Connections

LinkedIn is the boring brother of Facebook and Twitter.
Sometimes you feel like shaking him and asking if if he knows what it’s like to have a little bit of fun. Comparisons continue to be made including the ones between Facebook and Linkedin. One I have heard that sums it up well is….”Facebook is like hanging out at a barbeque with friends while LinkedIn is the cocktail party“.
Compared to Twitter, the social media rock star that attracts the media spotlight and streams across the bottom of the television, LinkedIn is a bit buttoned up. It’s suit and tie versus jeans and t-shirt. Sometimes you feel like you should be prodding it with a stick.
But despite the comparisons, the jokes and the snide remarks, LinkedIn is not to be underestimated. It can connect you to powerful influencers, provide a focused ecosystem to share your content and be a B2B marketers best friend.
These numbers put some context on the importance and scale of the LinkedIn community.

Those who use LinkedIn to connect and share information or seek a job now have a brand new option at their fingertips. According to Ryan Roslansky, director of product management at LinkedIn, the company has opened up its publishing platform to all 25,000 members, giving them another way to “build their professional brand.”
In an entry on the company’s blog, Roslansky says when members publish a post on LinkedIn, “original content becomes part of their professional profile, is shared with their trusted network and has the ability to reach the largest group of professionals ever assembled.”
Members will also have the ability to follow other members that are not in their network and build their own group of followers, while continuing to share their expertise posting photos, images, videos and original presentations on SlideShare.

Microsoft, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google And Yahoo Join Apple In Revealing More On NSA Requests
Darrell Etherington (@drizzled)
All the big tech companies are opening up a bit more about requests made by the U.S. National Security Agency, with Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo and LinkedIndetailing new info included in their respective transparency reports today. The new reports now include how many requests for the data of its members it has received from the government, how many total users were affected, and what percentage of those receive a response from the company.
Apple released similar data last week alongside its earning call, and there’s a reason for the timing that’s non-coincidental: A change to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act just put into effect now allows the companies to share more specifics around what kind of information they’re sharing and being asked to share by the government. Theincreased transparency was put into effect last week, in a ruling addressed to the legal counsel of all those companies listed above.
Is LinkedIn Data at Risk?
Consultant Ted Brooks finds LinkedIn poll data absent without support.
What a week—Super Bowl Sunday, followed by LegalTech New York! One thing is certain: You will always find many of the nation’s top players at both.
Last week, I had planned to write an article examining three years of survey data collected from our monthly polls on the Trial Technology LinkedIn group. Questions and responses covered a wide variety of relevant topics, such as favorite trial presentation software, size of firm you work with, type and value of cases you’re involved in, etc.

Updating Your LinkedIn Account Is Not Competitive Behavior

Getting "linked in" with your colleagues isn't competitive behavior—at least according to the Massachusetts Superior Court. In a recent decision, the court denied granting an employer a preliminary injunction against an employee who updated her LinkedIn profile after switching jobs.
In a recent blog post on Jackson Lewis' Non-Compete and Trade Secrets blog, Michael Ackerstein explains the case. The defendant, Charlotte Muller, entered a non-compete agreement with her company, prohibiting her from soliciting employees. When she left and took a position with a competing firm, she updated her LinkedIn page with the new position and company.
