Ebola Blunders by United Nitwits

LONDON (AP) — The World Health Organization said Saturday that it wouldn't explain details contained in an internal document obtained by The Associated Press in which the U.N. health agency said it fumbled early attempts to contain the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

In the draft document, which wasn't released publicly, WHO blamed numerous factors for the now explosive Ebola epidemic, including incompetent staff, bureaucracy and a lack of reliable information.

"WHO will not do interviews or explain details on this document until it is completed," the health agency said in a statement Saturday. "WHO believes in transparency and accountability and will release this review when it is fact-checked."

So far, Ebola has been blamed for 4,546 deaths in West Africa out of at least 9,191 cases. WHO estimated that there could be 10,000 cases every week by December unless stronger measures are enacted to fight the outbreak.

U.N. Hosts Meeting On “Zionist Terrorism”…

“Le terrorisme sioniste” – The Zionist Terrorism – was a theme of an event held at the UN in Geneva on September 22, 2014. A slide bearing this title was part of a presentation given by Ayssar Midani (pictured right), at “an informal meeting held in parallel to the session” of the UN Human Rights Council. The meeting, entitled “State terrorism: The case of Gaza,” was organized by the UN-accredited NGO “The Union of Arab Jurists”. Though the UN bulletin announcing the event carries a standard disclaimer for what may or may not be said, the application to hold the meeting in the first place must have been vetted and approved by UN staff. In addition, the UN itself, advertises the event widely to government and non-governmental organizations.

Algerian extremists allied with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have decapitated a French hostage after France ignored their demand to stop airstrikes in Iraq, according to a video obtained Wednesday by a U.S.-based terrorism watchdog.

A group calling itself Jund al-Khilafah, or Soldiers of the Caliphate, had said they would kill French mountaineer Herve Gourdel after abducting him Sunday unless France ended its airstrikes against ISIS fighters in Iraq within 24 hours.

French President Francois Hollande confirmed Gourdel's killing Wednesday afternoon, telling reporters the hostage was cruelly "assassinated" because he was French and because his country was fighting terrorism and defending human liberty against barbarity.
