Glock 20, A Viable Hunting Handgun

Field Test:

GUNS AND GEAR
Contributor
By Max Prasac, Gun Digest
This will not be an evaluation from a concealed-carry perspective. It’s a full-sized gun, in a full-sized chambering, and I am not interested in how well I can conceal it under a jacket. I am approaching this test as an evaluation from the perspective of a handgun hunter.
But first, let’s take a quick look at the Glock 20 itself. The G20 is built on the full-sized polymer frame so it is no delicate flower. Full-sized is also the manner in which I would describe the grip. The standard magazine capacity is 15 rounds and the standard barrel length is 4.6 inches and comes equipped with fixed front and rear sights. Fully loaded, the Glock 20 tips the scales at just less than 40 ounces. I will spare you the mechanical details as that is not why we are here.

Just where will it be legal to carry a gun in Illinois?

Law has tricky mix of where it's legal for permit holder to have gun

December 27, 2013|By Dahleen Glanton, Chicago Tribune reporter

After a hard-fought battle, Illinois residents next month can begin applying for permits to carry concealed guns in public. But those who do could face another challenge: figuring out where it's legal to carry a firearm and where having a gun could land them in jail.
While the Illinois statute lays out nearly two dozen places where guns are prohibited — including schools, public parks, government offices and hospitals — it also includes caveats that might seem confusing, even contradictory, particularly to novice gun carriers.

ALTON, Ill. (AP) - People planning to apply for concealed carry gun licenses are flocking to required firearms classes in anticipation of the Jan. 5 opening of the application process.
The Alton Telegraph reports that instructors in southwestern Illinois say classes are filling up fast.
Anyone applying for the license must have completed a 16-hour course from an Illinois State Police approved instructor.
