January 6, 2014 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Dangerous cold descended on Chicago and the suburbs overnight. Icy conditions led to several spinouts and crashes on area roadways and problems with CTA and Metra trains. Several schools, including CPS, canceled classes.
Chicago hit a record low for January 6 with a -16 degrees at O'Hare Airport. And it could get even colder, according to Eyewitness News meteorologist Tracy Butler. The entire Chicago area is under a wind chill warning. Wind chills during that period are forecast to dip between -20 and -45 degrees.
