Justices Ruth Ginsburg and Elena Kagan argued at the Supreme Court hearing Tuesday that granting a right to marriage to same-sex couples does no harm to the marriages of heterosexual couples.

But they apparently didn’t address the injury to citizens whose religious beliefs forbid from supporting what the Bible describes succinctly as sin.

Barronelle Stutzman could fill them in.

A notice of appeal has been filed in Washington state in the case against the florist who declined to provide flowers for a same-sex ceremony on religious grounds and since then has been targeted by the state attorney general for “personal and professional ruin.”

The notice was filed to the Washington state Supreme Court by the Alliance Defending Freedom on behalf of Stutzman and her shop, Arlene’s Flowers.

The initial filing consisted of only the notice of appeal, not the fully briefed arguments.

ADF attorney Kristen Waggoner said the “message that the attorney general and the ACLU have sent to the people of Washington in these two lawsuits [against Stutzman] is quite clear: surrender your religious liberty and freedom of speech, or face personal and professional ruin.”

She said the trial court’s ruling “affects all Americans who wish to remain free to live and work according to their faith without fear of punishment by the government.”

Crystal O’Connor co-owns a pizzeria in Indiana but they may close their doors permanently after being attacked and getting a lot of threats to burn down their pizzeria for putting forth their Christian faith. When she said she would not cater a gay wedding, the shop’s website was hacked, their Yelp profile was plastered with insults and obscene pictures, and they even received death threats and threats to burn them down.

A supporter  has begun a “GoFundMe” profile for the Pizzeria owners to help them weather the gay terrorists storm, and they have so many people angry that they’ve received over $18,000 in donations in just two hours!

Nationally syndicated radio talk show host Mark Levin slammed the media and so-called journalists for spreading “disinformation” and “propaganda” regarding Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) stating it “has nothing to do with gays.”

“You wanna know why I’m a big fan of the Indiana law, even though they’re going to change it, and the 19 other laws across this country and the Federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act, ‘cause that’s the name of it?” questioned Levin. “Because it’s about civil liberties. It’s about civil rights. It’s about tolerance, not the opposite.

Only days after a high-profile Democrat opponent announced a run to take his seat, Illinois Republican Senator Mark Kirk is coming out swinging. Not against his opponent, but against fellow Republican Mike Pence for signing Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

On Wednesday, Kirk attacked Indiana’s Republican Governor for signing his state’s much-dissected Religious Freedom Restoration Act, saying that he “strongly opposes” the governor’s actions.

Kirk went on to say that what Pence and the Indiana legislature did was “un-American.”

“We should not enshrine bigotry under the cover of religion. It’s not just bad practice—it’s un-American,” he said in his statement.

Kirk’s statement comes as no surprise because he has always been a big supporter of the homosexual agenda. In 2013, he was one of only 11 Republicans to sign onto an amendment that would give gay partners access to their spouse’s social security payments. He has also been an outspoken supporter of gay marriage.

In a video posted by The Dallas Morning News to YouTube on Wednesday, 2016 Republican presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke about the controversy involving Indiana’s “religious freedom” law.

Cruz took aim at Democrats in particular for using the wedge issue of same-sex marriage for political gain, even at the expense of those with a “good faith religious belief” about marriage.

“[H]ere’s what’s happened,” Cruz said. “Which is it used to be there was a bipartisan consensus. We’d defend the civil liberties of Americans, even those we disagreed with. We defended the religious liberty of people to seek out other faiths, faith different than our own, because that’s what this nation was built on.”

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence made a political mistake and embarrassed himself by promising to amend his state's religious freedom law in order to defuse overblown charges that it sanctions anti-gay discrimination, Catholic scholar Brad Miner told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.

In the wake of the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the media have been stacking myth upon myth in order to drive the narrative that right-wingers desperately want to harm gays and lesbians. Nothing could be further from the truth. Conservatives merely want to protect a basic notion of freedom from the tyranny of the left: the notion that individual rights, even those exercised in ways we would not always like, are still rights. Those rights extend to your conduct of your own business, given that there are no externalities – and refusal to engage in a voluntary transaction does not amount to an externality. That is the essence of liberty.

Here are the top myths pushed by the media left in the wake of the RFRA:

RFRA Discriminates Against Gays. No, the RFRA does not. The RFRA is explicitly designed to protect practice of any religion. It says that “a governmental entity may not substantially burden a person’s exercise of religion, even if the burden results from a rule of general applicability.” That can be overridden if the government’s action “is in furtherance of a compelling government interest” and is also “the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling government interest.” If government does act against someone in violation of their religious principles, that person or entity can assert that violation “as a claim or defense in a judicial or administrative proceeding.” So, if you are a Muslim, and you want to wear a beard while a police officer, the RFRA protects you. If you are a Jehovah’s Witness and you don’t want to get a blood transfusion in violation of law, the RFRA protects you.

The reason many on the left believe the RFRA discriminates against homosexuals is because homosexuals have sued private religious businessowners for refusing to service same-sex weddings. The RFRA protects such religious businessowners from antidiscrimination laws – although Indiana has no such antidiscrimination laws with regard to sexual orientation anyway. So Indiana’s law has not even changed one iota with regard to private businessowners’ treatment of homosexuals, let alone gay marriage (refusing to service a same-sex wedding is not the same as refusing to serve someone gay, by the way).

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) said that he believes people who don’t want to provide services for same-sex marriages on religious grounds have “a valid constitutional concern,” and that it shouldn’t be legal “to deny someone service at a restaurant or at a hotel because of their sexual orientation” on Monday’s broadcast of “The Five” on the Fox News Channel.

Rubio was initially asked if he would support adding sexual orientation to the Civil Rights Act, to which he responded “I haven’t heard that proposal before, and therefore don’t fully understand how something like that would work.”

Rubio continued, “I don’t think Americans want to discriminate against anyone. I think the fundamental question of some of these laws is should someone be discriminated against because of their religious views? So, no one here is saying it should be legal to deny someone service at a restaurant or at a hotel because of their sexual orientation, I think that’s a consensus view in America. The flip side of it is, though, should a photographer be punished for refusing to do a wedding that their faith teaches them is — not one that is valid in the eyes of God? Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s recently-signed religious liberty law—which is being targeted heavily by the institutional left—is making religious liberty a major 2016 battlefield issue.

In fact, many potential GOP presidential candidates are rushing to Pence’s and the law’s defense as liberals attempt to undermine it—and key players in early presidential states say this issue is going to be as front and center as other major issues, like immigration, in 2016.

“I support the Religious Freedom and Restoration Act because I support religious liberty as granted to us in our Constitution,” Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a likely contender for the 2016 GOP nomination, said in an email to Breitbart News. “Last year I went to the Reagan Library to argue for the importance of religious liberty and make the case that it is under attack in America today. The fact that there are some who think this law in Indiana, which merely makes it clear that local governments must respect our religious liberty, is controversial clearly shows that religious liberty is indeed under attack.”

Jindal said he rejects the notion that the law is discriminatory, something critics on the left have argued.

“I oppose discrimination and I reject the notion that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act is discriminatory,” Jindal told Breitbart News.

I will note that President Clinton signed the Religious Freedom and Restoration Act at the federal level and Secretary Hillary Clinton has now said she opposes this law. It would be interesting to learn if Secretary Hillary Clinton silently opposed this protection of religious liberty when President Clinton signed it, or if she has just recently ‘evolved’ on that. The great irony is that in the minds of today’s liberals the only bigotry to be tolerated is their own bigotry against religious beliefs.

Dr. Ben Carson, a likely 2016 presidential contender, tells Breitbart News that it is “absolutely vital” Americans stand up for Indiana Gov. Mike Pence’s new religious freedom law.

Speaking about the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act—which has drawn firefrom the left—Carson said the First Amendment is one of the basic pillars and a founding principle of the nation.

“It is absolutely vital that we do all we can to allow Americans to practice their religious ways, while simultaneously ensuring that no one’s beliefs infringe upon those of others. We should also serve as champions of freedom of religion throughout the world,” Carson tells Breitbart News.

He notes that individuals committing horrific acts of intolerance are persecuting people across the world because of religion.

“As Americans, we have an obligation to denounce these acts of persecution. For when we stand up to such intolerance, we are defending the root of our freedom, both at home and abroad,” he said.

There’s something very dangerous happening in states across the country.

A wave of legislation, introduced in more than two dozen states, would allow people to discriminate against their neighbors. Some, such as the bill enacted in Indiana last week that drew a national outcry and one passed in Arkansas, say individuals can cite their personal religious beliefs to refuse service to a customer or resist a state nondiscrimination law.

Others are more transparent in their effort to discriminate. Legislation being considered in Texas would strip the salaries and pensions of clerks who issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples — even if the Supreme Court strikes down Texas’ marriage ban later this year. In total, there are nearly 100 bills designed to enshrine discrimination in state law.

These bills rationalize injustice by pretending to defend something many of us hold dear. They go against the very principles our nation was founded on, and they have the potential to undo decades of progress toward greater equality.
