The Rev. Al Sharpton has been praised as a civil rights icon by prominent figures in politics, and "60 Minutes" reported that he has become President Barack Obama's "go-to black leader."

Sharpton has been frequently in the media for leading protests against grand jury decisions exonerating white policemen in the deaths of unarmed African-Americans in Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island, New York.

But many in the mainstream media have sought to downplay the negatives surrounding the firebrand minister, who has been accused of being a rabble-rouser out for personal gain, including:

1. When Sharpton sought involvement in the funeral of Akai Gurley, an African-American shot dead in November by a rookie police officer in the darkened stairwell of a housing project in Brooklyn, New York, Gurley's family told him to stay away.

Sharpton held a news conference condemning the cop and promised to deliver a eulogy at the wake. But Gurley's aunt, who was speaking for his mother, told TMZ: "Al Sharpton came in, put his name on the situation, but has not even made one single call to the parents of Akai," adding that all Sharpton sees "is money and political gain and he is turning the tragedy into a circus."

#ICantBreathe "Peaceful" Rioters LOOT Berkeley stores

EMERYVILLE (KTVU and Wires) -- A group of protesters overwhelmed the police force in Emeryville Tuesday night, ransacking a Pak N Save store and stealing liquor and cigarettes from other stores, authorities said.

Emeryville police spokesman Brian Head said car windows were also smashed in the resident neighborhoods.

“We completely embrace the right to peacefully protest, but we will not tolerate vandalism and violence,” Head told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters marched through the nearby downtown Berkeley streets for a fourth straight night, briefly blocking traffic on a highway and delaying metro and train services.

Demonstration were planned Wednesday, with organizers saying they expect hundreds of people to come out and help shut down a federal building in Oakland.

"As white people, we are outraged by the constant and ongoing violations against black people's lives from Ferguson to Oakland to San Francisco to Cleveland to Staten Island," said Jason Wallach of Showing Up for Racial Justice

We know about the skyrocketing black-on-black murders in major cities, but there’s a subtle and more insidious form of black-on-black crime that is devouring the souls of millions of black Americans.

After the New York grand jury decision not to charge NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner, protesters shut down streets and disrupted businesses.

After the Ferguson grand jury decision exonerating Officer Darren Wilson in the self-defense shooting death of Michael Brown, blacks rioted and looted businesses.

The common thread behind the organized chaos unleashed on innocent people is the incitement by liberal black leaders.

Black-on-black crime is being perpetrated on the souls of black Americans, from the president on down. The crime is committed every time the black leadership deliberately stokes the anger of black people.
