Lawyers have a reputation for being, well, long-winded at times, whether in court or online. But their extra words may not be helping their causes, where social media is concerned. Luckily, Kevan Lee has done his research in this blog post and compiled a guide to the perfect length for each platform:
- Tweets: Though tweets are limited to 140 characters max, research suggests that 100 characters is the perfect length. This also leaves room for people to retweet your post with some commentary of their own.
- Facebook: Though users are limited less with this social network, experts say they should still confine their thoughts—to 40 characters. Nobody likes Facebook rants or long-winded posts. - Google+: Keep headlines to one text line and less than 60 characters. Want a longer one? Then just write a great first sentence instead, suggests Lee.
