VIDEO - A World Cup Without Neymar: Brazilians React

The World Cup lost one of its star players to a nasty injury on Friday when Brazil's striker Neymar broke his third vertebra after being kneed in his back by Colombia defender Juan Camilo Zuniga. A doctor ruled Neymar will not play in any more World Cup matches.
The reactions to Neymar's unfortunate exit were swift and intense on social media, focusing on how Brazil will move forward without the striker. Discussion was just as vigorous on the ground along Paulista Avenue in São Paulo, whereMashable freelancer Ben Tavener and his colleague Cedar Attanasio talked to Brazilians about their team's future.

U.S. FINALLY DEFEATS GHANA IN DRAMATIC WORLD CUP OPENER

USA SNATCHES DRAMATIC WIN OVER GHANA

Wolf and Wynalda break down the 2-1 win over Ghana.

Finally, the United States men's soccer team beat their nemesis Ghana in the World Cup.

It took 33 seconds for Clint Dempsey to open the scoring to establish control of the U.S. squad after Landon Donovan was left off and a dramatic game-winning header by John Anthony Brooks in the 86th minute to vindicate U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who selected the young Bundesliga player with an American father and a German mother, despite his struggles early in the year.
In so doing, Klinsmann did what former coaches Bob Bradley and Bruce Arena could not -- defeat the dangerous Ghana squad that had eliminated the Americans in the last two World Cups. The United States secured a crucial three points in what is known as the "Group of Death" with Germany and Portugal in addition to Ghana.
