February 17, 2014 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Snow is falling - once again- across the Chicago area, prompting road crews to clear the streets and airlines to cancel flights.
Three to six inches of snow will fall across the Chicago area Monday, and thunder snow is possible as the heaviest band moves though.
"Probably later on this morning, and through the afternoon, especially, is when we are going to see the potential for lots of snow," ABC7 Meteorologist Tracy Butler said. "Three to six inch amounts widespread, with many of us getting into that six. And it's possible if we do get under some of that thunder, we could get as much as eight inches of snow in some spots."
Currently, at 2:05 PM, there are white-out conditions here at Sheridan and Touhy in Rogers Park. The snow comes and goes in cycles; and when the direction is eastward from the lake, we cannot see to the corner, though we are in the middle of the block.
Sheridan Road is covered with snow and no ploughs have been past as of 2:12 PM. Traffic is moving with caution and drivers are taking great care.
Tonight ought to be fun indeed.
