Evangelist son of famed preacher Billy Graham says jailed Kentucky court clerk Kim Davis is "fighting for religious freedom for all of us."

In a post on his Facebook page Friday, Franklin Graham, the head of a foundation named after his father and head of global charity Samaritan's Purse, says a federal judge's decision to jail Davis after she refused to issue marriage certificates to same-sex couples gives further proof of a "criminalization of Christianity."

"This ripple effect is exactly what we feared would result from the Supreme Court's disastrous ruling in June," he writes.

"As Americans, our constitution guarantees religious freedom which means we should be able to live out our faith in our daily lives."

"As Kim fights this battle, she is really fighting for religious freedom for all of us."

Prior to the Supreme Court decision in June legalizing same-sex marriages in all 50 states, they were banned in Kentucky, but Gov. Steve Beshear directed county clerks to begin accepting those applications after the ruling.

My sofa felt pretty comfortable. Ninety percent of the time, I'm on the road as chairman of theConservative Campaign Committee. This was a rare occasion to be in town for the Volusia 9/12 Project monthly meeting. I saw the email reminder about the meeting earlier that day and thought it might be good to attend considering the two devastating outrageous rulings handed down by the Supreme Court (Obamacare and same sex marriage).

But when 5pm rolled around and I would have to leave at 6pm to get there on time at 7pm, I was sorely tempted to stay home on my extremely comfortable sofa. And yet, almost robotic, I showered and prepared to leave. At our front door, my wife Mary gave me a kiss and said, “I'm proud of you for going.” Iasked, “Why?” She replied, “I don't know.”

The 9/12 group's meeting was the same day the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same sex marriage. I'm a Christian and know that God has everything under control. Still, I was emotionally shaken; angry, frustrated, hurt and concerned about the dark place our country is headed – evil appearing to triumph everywhere you turn.

By now, everyone on the planet knows that the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has rendered a decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. In a landmark 5-4 decision, Justices Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, Stephen Breyer, and Elena Kagan ruled that states may not prohibit homosexual couples from getting “married.” The reasoning of their decision was based on the 14th Amendment’s “Due Process” clause.

Writing for the majority, Justice Kennedy said, “Under the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, no State shall ‘deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.’ The fundamental liberties protected by this Clause include most of the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights.”

Obviously, there is nothing in the Bill of Rights specifically about the right of homosexuals to “marry.” But there is something in the Bill of Rights specifically about the right to keep and bear arms. Using the reasoning and conclusion of the Court’s homosexual “marriage” ruling, states have absolutely no authority to deny recognition of concealed carry permits that have been issued in other states. In other words, if the 14th Amendment protects an unspecified right (same-sex “marriage”), it certainly protects a specified right (the right to keep and bear arms). And since some states recognize the right of citizens to openly carry firearms, this right should also be determined to be protected by the 14th Amendment. If states must recognize driver’s licenses (and now same-sex “marriage” licenses) issued in other states, it is now clear that they must also be required to recognize concealed weapon licenses issued in other states.

This past week, we witnessed the unseemly pandering of several Republicans to the radical homosexual lobby.  Each stumbled over the other to present his credentials.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio—in a display of complete incoherence—stated on Face the Nation: “I don’t believe that your sexual preferences are a choice for a vast and enormous majority of the people… the bottom line is I believe that sexual preference is something people are born with.” Which one is it, are all people born that way, or just the ones who want to make that claim?

Rubio’s incoherent view seems to boil down to this: If you think you are born that way you are, but if you don’t think so, then you are not. Then he moved on rapidly, to affirm traditional marriage. On what basis Marco?

Rubio’s anxiety to please and fit in with the current of the times was shared by others allegedly holding to the conservative ideal. Scott Walker almost groveled to affirm that he was on the politically correct side of this issue by reporting that he had been to the wedding reception of a homosexual couple, but had never stepped into the wedding ceremony itself. If you are celebrating a gay wedding at the reception, what is so problematic about attending the wedding? What fine distinction is Walker trying to establish?

Somehow the need to fit in takes over these men, these “conservative” individuals that are leaders in our country. Texas’s Rick Perry, when he was asked if he would attend a gay wedding, anxiously stated, that he “probably would go,” and Gov. John Kasich made sure that everyone knows he will soon be attending a gay wedding.
