During a report on Friday's NBC Today about the manhunt for suspects in the shooting of two police officers in Ferguson, Missouri, correspondent Craig Melvin touted protesters in the community being undeterred by the violence: "One of the protest organizers, Rasheen Aldridge, says he hopes for the officers's recovery, but is determined not to let the shootings slow their movement." Melvin asked Aldridge: "What's the end game?" Aldridge replied: "The end game is to continue. Continue to fight until we have a system that is going to be equal to everyone." Melvin turned to another protester and wondered: "We had three top officials step down over the past week or so in this area. Is that not enough?" A man identifying himself as John C. Muhammad, the City Manager of Uplands Park, MO, said that the shooting of two police officers in Ferguson was “a complete setup” carried out by the police on Thursday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

“I think it was a complete setup. I think it was a setup between members of the police fraternities, what I like to call it. I think they operate just like the KKK. I think they did it to make themselves think they’re the victim, when honestly the victim are black people. I think it’s just a publicity stunt. No more than that” he stated. Although, he later clarified that this was solely his position, and not necessarily that of his constituents.

The man was identified on the air as “John Muhammad…a City Manager in a nearby town.” A LinkedIn page and what appears to be the city’s website identify John C. Muhammad as City Manager of Uplands Park, MO, and a Twitter page with the same name has a tweet saying he is planning to go to Ferguson to protest.

Cop Haters take to #TWITTER to Praise #FERGUSON Shootings !!!

Hours after two St. Louis-area police officers were shot outside the headquarters of the embattled Ferguson police department early Thursday, anti-cop trolls took to Twitter to send out messages praising the violent act.

The police officers, who are not members of Ferguson's force, were part of a 25-man police line at the embattled headquarters, where Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson had announced his resignation hours earlier in the wake of a police officer's shooting a black man in August. The hours-long demonstration, at which protesters called for more city officials to resign or be fired, was under control until after midnight, when suddenly as many as four shots were fired at the police. Both police officers, one of whom was shot in the face, were treated and released several hours later.

Two Ferguson-area law enforcement officers were in serious condition at a nearby hospital Thursday after being shot during a protest over Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson’s  announced his resignation.

One officer from Webster Groves, 32, was shot in the face and another from St. Louis County, 41, was hit in the shoulder. St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said they were both conscious and recovering, but their injuries were considered “serious,” The Associated Press reported.

One witness told CNN the bullets, about four of them, came from a nearby hill, rather than from the crowd of protesters. Police still don’t have suspects or solid leads.

Bob Massi, a legal analyst for Fox News, made a morning broadcast appearance to discuss the shootings of two police officers in Ferguson, laying the blame for the recent violence squarely at the feet of the Obama administration and Attorney General Eric Holder.

Massi referred to the recent release of the Department of Justice’s report on Ferguson police, and its finding of systematic discrimination on the part of city officials toward the mostly minority community, and said Holder made inciteful statements about its contents.

“When you look at some of the words of Eric Holder,” Massi said, during the “Fox & Friends” segment, “there was a way for him to present that report that doesn’t incite that type of emotion.”

Holder said on Friday that he would use all the power of the Justice Department to hold Ferguson officials accountable and to enact widespread city government reforms.

His exact words: “We are prepared to use all the power that we have … to ensure that the situation changes there.” And when asked if that potential action included dismantling the Ferguson Police Department, Holder said: “If that’s what’s necessary, we’re prepared to do that.”

Massi said Holder could have instead used calmer tones and less inflammatory language that would have given the protest movement some comfort, without inciting violent rallies.
