A man was killed and at least five other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago on Tuesday, police said.
The fatal shooting happened about 2:20 p.m. on the Near West Side.
A 40-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest in the 400 block of South Paulina and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he later died, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the fatality. Police said a person of interest is being questioned.
The latest non-fatal attack happened about 9:30 p.m. in South Chicago.
A 21-year-old woman was with a group of people on the front porch of a home in the 8100 block of South Burnham when a light-colored SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said.
She was struck in the thigh and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition stabilized, police said.
Less than an hour earlier, a 16-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle driving away from an Austin shooting that left two men wounded on the West Side.
Just before 9 p.m., a 21-year-old man was at a gas station in the 300 block of South Cicero when a group of people walked up and a fight started, police said. During the fight, someone in the group shot him in the arm and right leg.
