The Rev. Al Sharpton apparently believes the best way to avoid a police state in America is for the Department of Justice to take over local policedepartments.
Sharpton told the Baltimore Sun on Thursday that creating a national police force — a nightmare scenario for most patriotic Americans — is akin to the fight for the right to vote.
“We’ve been fighting them all over the country, which is why we’re going to do this march from here to Washington. We need the Justice Department to step in and take over policing in this country,” he said. “In the 20th century, we had to fight states’ rights to get the right to vote. We gonna have to fight states’ rights in terms of closing down police cases.”
The Twitterverse reacted to the Rev’s calls with its usual vitriol.
