The Chief Imam of Lead City University, Ibadan, Abdulrahman Muhammed-Liawal, says: “The judgment in Islam for anybody that kills his fellow being is death.”
Actually, the Qur’an never says that. It does say this: “And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right. And whoever is killed unjustly, We have given his heir authority, but let him not exceed limits in taking life. Indeed, he has been supported.” (17:33) This is clearly not an outright prohibition of killing. One should not kill “except by right.” And one who kills “unjustly” is subject to punishment from the heirs of the person he killed.
Here yet again we see a Muslim cleric claiming that Boko Haram is not Islamic but not explaining why. This is important because if they don’t explain why, they will only convince gullible Infidels that Boko Haram is not Islamic, and lull them into complacency. If they explain why, they have a chance to keep other Muslims from accepting the Islamic justifications for its actions that Boko Haram offers. So why don’t they do that? And why doesn’t anyone ever challenge them about this?
