De Paul University Music School to finally get a real home

It would be nice to see the School or Music have a permanent base. Their current home, in the former McCormick Theological Seminary at Fullerton and Halsted is far better than the 5th floor of the Lewis Center (now part of the Law Library) that was their home for so many years. The Jackson and Wabash hub provided many advantages.

Though crowded into a small space, the surrounding community made the location ideal - Carl Fisher Music, Lyon and Healy, Franks Drum Shop, Kagan and Gaines, Chicago Guitar Gallery, and a host of Music Studios from the Fine Arts Building on Michigan, directly north of Roosevelt University which houses Chicago Music College, to Monroe on Michigan and Wabash Avenues made it a community where everything from Classical To Jazz instruments and Music instruction could be readily found.

Under the able 50 year leadership of Dr. Leon Stein,  the Music School provided instruction, community and a lively professional environment for all lucky enough to attend.  This Composer graduated in 1976, and the Music School moved to the Lincoln Park Campus the following year. where they have been ever since.  It would be nice to see this great Chicago learning center have a real home.
